Hey Brooklyn [Episode 49: Robicelli's Cupcakes]

You bitches have this whole blog reading thing down pretty well now, but don't you think its time you expanded your horizons!? Like with a podcast? Like with the Hey Brooklyn PODCAST!? Each week, we'll tell you about the creative BK mofo that our buds over at Hey Brooklyn feature. On deck this week: Matt-n-Allison Robicelli from Robicelli's Cupcakes.

As you all know, we're big ass Robicelli fans around these parts. Dating back to cupcakegate 2k10 (which they discuss at length during the podcast), we've known that these folks are the real deal. These guys make dee-licious, quirky cupcakes (if you haven't tried them, I suggest you head out to Blue Apron on Union Street RIGHT NOW), and sometimes they even fry them! If you listen all the way through the podcast, there is even a bonus track where they talk about their wedding...at WHITE CASTLE!?

Hey Brooklyn [Episode 48: Nathan Manske]

photo: Hey BrooklynYou bitches have this whole blog reading thing down pretty well now, but don't you think its time you expanded your horizons!? Like with a podcast? Like with the Hey Brooklyn PODCAST!? Each week, we'll tell you about the creative BK mofo that our buds over at Hey Brooklyn feature. On deck this week: Nathan Manske from I'm From Driftwood.

Manske has a rad site on which he collects true stories from his gay comrades about what is was like for them when they came out of the closet. Inspired by the scene from the movie Milk where Harvey Milk is holding a sign that says "I'm from Woodmere, NY" (I'm from Hewlett by the way! The town next door!), Manske titles all of his submissions "I'm from...," and then includes the storyteller's home town, reinforcing the idea that gay people come from every town, in every state, in every country.

Needless to say, I couldn't get through the front page of the site without crying, so good luck with that.

Also, can we just say it: Nathan Manske makes it official!--It's Gay Week here on FIPS!

Read some amazing coming out stories here on ImFromDriftwood.com...and then fan them up on Facebook.

Hey Brooklyn [Episode 47: Rescue Chocolate]

You bitches have this whole blog reading thing down pretty well now, but don't you think its time you expanded your horizons!? Like with a podcast? Like with the Hey Brooklyn PODCAST!? Each week, we'll tell you about the creative BK mofo that our buds over at Hey Brooklyn feature. On deck this week: Sarah Gross from Rescue Chocolate.

Rescue Chocolate sells vegan chocolate bars...and *true* vegans do sort of annoy the shit out of me. BUT, I'm making a massive exception in the case of Sarah Gross. She bills her company as "the sweetest way to save a life," and she seriously means it, as 100% of the proceeds from her co. go directly to dog rescue organizations. 100% people!? As someone who's teeth clench and fists ball up whenever I hear of anyone getting a new pet who did NOT adopt, I gotta give this chick massive props.

So follow her ass on Twitter, fan her up on Facebook and buy some chocolate pronto...the doggies need your cash mon-ay.

"Woe is mom," "mom jacking," "Mombies," STFUparents will get you reaaaaal familiar with all of these terms REAL FAST. ICYBLUFR (in case you've been living under a fucking rock) and don't know what STFUparents is, it's this ah-MAZING blogalicious piece of internet real estate that chronicles all of the crazy shit that parents talk about, bitch about, and document on Facebook and other social media sites. It's hilarious...and so is "B."

Hey Brooklyn [Episode 44: Stomping Ground]

You bitches have this whole blog reading thing down pretty well now, but don't you think its time you expanded your horizons!? Like with a podcast? Like with the Hey Brooklyn PODCAST!? Each week, we'll tell ya about the creative BK mofo that our buds over at Hey Brooklyn feature. On deck this week: Dennis & Kelsey Kleiman of Stomping Ground Photo.

We featured Stomping Ground a few months back because their "un-school photo photos" are so friggin cool, it almost makes me want to borrow one of your kids and march em over there for a session. In fact they've taken the whole concept of school portraits and dumped it right on its fucking head (i.e. boys can wear tutus). When are the pet portraits coming, guys? WHEN??
