You love your ironic t-shirt collection more than life itself, but do you ever wonder where those tees come from?
Instead of tripping out and getting too philosophical, check out Gowanus Print Lab instead. A community screen printing workspace located in—you guessed it—Gowanus, GPL provides its members with everything they could need to screen print to their little indie hearts' desires.
Membership includes the use of inks, emulsions, squeegees and screens—all you need to supply is your art and whatever you’re printing on. Whether you're an artist looking to print an edition of posters or a some jerk looking to get a crossed-out FIPS logo printed on some t-shirts (don't do that, seriously), they're armed and ready for it all.
GPL also offers screen printing classes from beginner to advanced levels, as well as a variety of digital and design classes. Day passes and studio memberships are available, and they even offer monthly studio rentals for those tortured artists who prefer to have their own dedicated space (or, because their wife kicked them out of the house).
Even the kids can get in on the action up in here. GPL offers week-long summer workshops for middle and high school students and YOUTHursdays, which are weekly classes where kids can print their own t-shirts, tote bags, and stickers, etc.
