School Pictures That Don't Make You Want To Vomit

photo: Stomping Ground

I swear, EVERY single school picture of me that was ever taken is cringe-worthy--from elementary school all the way up to HS. Like, you know when shit is so bad, you're even embarrassed to show it to people during one of those totally casual "show me your WORST, most hilarious photos" ever moments? And the person you're with maybe even crosses their heart and hopes to die promises that they won't laugh at you, but you don't believe them for one red hot second cause you know what's gonna go down? Yeah, well I do...cause my shit is that bad to the bone.

Anyway.

Stomping Ground seems like a perfect way to ensure that your child doesn't experience the same traumatic and painful memories that I have twenty years from now when they're showing some hot date they brought home their cringe-worthy school photos. "Reinventing the school photo" is their tagline, and I gotta tell ya, from what I've seen clicking around their site, they totally have.

Run by a talented Park Slope husband and wife photographer team, Kelsey and Dennis Kleiman, they seem to have a wonderful knack for capturing kids' personalities in a fun, unique way. Based on the photos, kids are encouraged to dress up, go crazy, and even let their freak flags fly. The kids dance, sing, jump around, get all dressed up in a costume, and in the end, they all come out looking pretty darn adorable.

On November 14th, Stomping Ground is going to have an open studio day--so if you want some cute pics of the kiddos, you should go sign up:

LOCATION: Mission For Today; 298 6th Ave between 2nd and 3rd streets.
TIME: Appointments all day, though most of the morning is booked already. Sessions are 20 or 30 minutes long, depending on how big your family is, whether or not its just kids, individuals, a group, etc.
COST: $175. Included in that price you will receive: (1) 8x10 portrait, (1) 5x7 portrait, and (1) set of four wallet photos of the same image. Additional ordering may be done through the website.
BOOK: In order to schedule an appointment, include at least (2) times of the day that would work for you, as well as the names and ages of your kids in an email to bookme@stompinggroundphoto.com. You will then receive a follow-up email regarding deposit costs, additional prints, greeting cards, gifts and digital files.

That's right BALLERS: I got your back too, yo!
